sofia.maciel@inesctec.ptINESC Technology and Science (INESC TEC) is a private, non-profit association dedicated to scientific research and technological development, technology transfer, advanced consulting and training, and pre-incubation of new technology-based companies.
The dual mission of INESC TEC is to excel in research, seeking social relevance and international influence, and to foster pervasive intelligence, contributing to the competitiveness and internationalization of Portuguese companies and institutions.
The Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES) is INESC TEC’s main actor in the areas of electrical energy and is internationally endorsed for its expertise in problems relating to the integration of renewable energy in power systems, distributed generation, and smart grids. It is also notable to many for hosting the Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles laboratory (SGEVL): a space where advanced calculation and simulation equipment supports technical activities and offers the right setting to prototype and experiment with new concepts before they are scaled up within the industry.
Within the hydrogen field, INESC TEC is leading research on bulk energy storage solutions for assuring security of supply in the Portuguese electrical power system characterized by very large-scale integration of renewable power sources. CPES is also working on a project about simulation and control of natural gas distribution networks with incorporation of hydrogen, involving the assessment of quality of supply.
The research results produced by CPES may be of various technology readiness levels (TRL), from level 2, where fundamental research is carried out, to level 8, where prototyping and demonstration of technology is performed.
INESCTEC is in charge of the dissemination, communication, networking and strategic intelligence work.
The projects INESC TEC is developing in similar fields are consulting projects, which we can not disclose.
