Efacec

Presentation

Created in 1948, Efacec is a Portuguese company operating in the energy, engineering and mobility sectors.

It is based in the north of Portugal, in Oporto, and is one of the best-known names in engineering in Portugal, with an industrial presence in several countries.

With a comprehensive presence in the Energy, Mobility and Environment value chain, Efacec acts as a supplier of solutions and integrated EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) systems and O&M (Operations & Maintenance) service partner.  Efacec is present in strategic markets such as Europe, the United States, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Role in the project

Efacec Energia, within the scope of the participation, will bring to the project its long-dated and solid experience, know-how and technological skills within the electrical energy domain, namely in digital control and energy converters power electronics solutions.

In the context of GREENH2ATLANTIC, Efacec will participate in the elaboration of a study, involving a detailed literature review, on power conversion solutions for the electrolyser. This will allow a physical and performance model of the converters to be included in the Operational Control System (OCS). Additionally, Efacec will perform the design of different conversion architectures that will contribute to the engineering of the electrolyser modules.

Relevant Previous Projects

Efacec is focused on innovative and sustainable solutions, positioning itself as a global trendsetter on circular economy culture. Nowadays, it is expanding its strategy into the H2 field, to rapidly build a solid path to achieve the ambitious environmental targets outlined by UE. In addition to the project "GREENH2ATLANTIC”, Efacec is also involved in Green projects, within the national scope.

The company is leading two projects that were approved to the next phase of the Green Agendas program, within the RRP framework, such as "ATE", which comprises many projects directed to the creation of products and solutions for the energy transition based on the national technologies and know-how, and "H2DRIVEN" which involves activities from the renewable energy generation up to the production of H2 and other green fuels, like green methanol. Internally, Efacec is also developing a H2 Production Pilot Unit.
