Hytlantic consortium passes first stage of environmental licensing

The Portuguese Environment Agency has indicated to the Hytlantic consortium that its preliminary proposal for the GreenH2Atlantic project "meets the requirements", allowing the grouping of EDP and Galp to proceed with the environmental impact study.

Hytlantic, the company that brings together the partners to develop the GreenH2Atlantic green hydrogen project in Sines, has obtained a positive decision from Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente (APA) in the preliminary stage of licensing for that project, with APA indicating that the proposed definition of scope that precedes the environmental impact study "meets the requirements".

Hytlantic had started the environmental licensing of GreenH2Atlantic in November last year, presenting the respective scoping proposal, i.e. a document that defines guidelines for the environmental impact study (EIS), in order to minimise the possibility that the EIS may present non-conformities.

In September this year, the Hytlantic consortium saw the GreenH2Atlantic project classified by the Government as a project of "Potential National Interest" (PIN). And before that it obtained an EU support of 30 million euros under the Horizon 2020 programme.
